More than 400 domestic and international guests attended the event organized by the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to commemorate the historic moment when Queen Elizabeth II became the first Monarch of the United Kingdom to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of reign and devoted service to the UK and the Commonwealth.

During the ceremony, UK Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward highlighted Her Majesty’s lifelong dedication to charitable causes, particularly her efforts in expanding opportunities for young people, improving health and social services, and promoting environmental and wildlife protection initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Oliver Todd – British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City – emphasized the strong development of the Vietnam–UK bilateral relationship despite the challenges of the pandemic. Both countries continue to deepen cooperation across various sectors, including trade, the COVAX program, and bilateral support initiatives.

The event was honored by the attendance of Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, as the distinguished guest. City leadership acknowledged significant progress in the Vietnam–UK strategic partnership, especially key collaboration projects such as the smart bus ticketing system and urban drainage infrastructure development.
